Netball (optional activities outside of School time)

It is wonderful to see so many Year 3 & 4 student participating in sports outside of the school.  Miss Northe had the pleasure of watching the Year 4 team play on Tuesday afternoon.  They played fair and had a great win!

Soup

In the Reading Hive we have been learning about different types of food.  We research, read poems & stories, and brainstorm descriptive language.

We read the poem below.

Miss Northe bought in 3 different soups for us to try (if we wanted to take the risk - no double dipping, a new spoon each time).
- Chicken Noodle
- Tomato
- Vegetable

The Chicken Noodle soup was our favourite!  We thought it reminded us of chicken flavored chips and two minute noodles, and KFC fries.

Ice Cream Making Challenge

Our Year 3 & 4 students have been learning about 'heat transfer'.  Today we were busy scientists and we made ice cream.  We were able to feel and see how heat transfer works.  Thanks to School Kit for providing all of the ingredients.  We created 16 different 'breakfast flavored ice creams', e.g. baked beans, oats and plum; honey puffs and honey was a hit!

Tough Kid Challenge 2018!!

Wow wee!! What an amazing job the Year 3 and 4 Clive Kids did during the Mitre 10 Mega Tough Kid Challenge last week.
There was a whole heap of water, loads of mud and a great deal of smiles. Such a super effort from every Clive Kid. You persevered, climbed, crawled, ran and dodged your way through the course.

Maths Hive

In the Maths Hive we do a variety of activities.  The students get to decide which activity they will do, each day, not repeating the same activity in the week.  They have to show evidence of their learning each day by posting pictures/screen shots on a Pic Collage; these are then saved onto their Drive at the end of the week.

We use the below online resources or Apps:
  • Sumdog
  • e-ako
  • Learning Money NZ App
  • Child Friendly Playing Cards
  • Collaborative tasks - that we do with Miss Northe (this week Statistics based - reinforcing our learning from previous weeks)

We put buttons up on the wall to show what we have done each week and to remind us to do other tasks that have not already been completed.
