iWay Scooter Safety 2018
We started off with a roar, but unfortunately day 2 has been postponed until Monday 24th September. So please remember to bring covered shoes, and a scooter and helmet if you have one.
Here are a few snaps of Room 5 on Monday.
Here is a video with our dances. We have been working together to create interesting movements. A lot of out moves have been inspired by games and the internet. We have been working collaboratively to produce dances.

Having fun and being creative
Here are a couple of pictures of our messy yet creative classroom. Boxes of goodies were put out for the children of Room 5 to rummage through and create whatever they wanted. There were some very clever ideas and creations.
RugbyThis term for PE we are learning rugby skills. Duffy came to Clive School to help us learn some of these awesome skills on Wednesday 25 July. Here are some photos of Room 5 taking part in the PE programme. So far they have been learning how to correctly tackle, dodge players and to pass the ball.
A couple of amazing stories!
Our new learning for this term is to use conjunctions (joining words such as and, but, so. This helps us to add more detail and information to some sentences). We are also remembering to include last terms focus which was adjectives (describing words).
One dark morning I woke up and turned on
the big tv, boom! There was a portal. I took the remote and jumped into the big
portal. It disappeared behind me. I was in a jungle. I saw a hut. There was no
one inside. I heard something outside. It was two eggs. My big remote was
recharged and it was nearly night time. I went back to the present, just in
time. When I woke up, crack! The eggs had hatched. It was an Ankylosaurs and a
Brachiosaurus baby. I went to Clive School and I disguised them as Clive Kids.
No one even noticed. I then made a dinosaur zoo. It had every dinosaur. There
was an egg incubator room, a baby room, a petting zoo and a baby dinosaur
making room. There was also a cage for the water dinosaurs, flying dinosaurs
and the land dinosaur’s. I felt incredible.

One day me and my family went to the
beach because it was a beautiful sunny day. I got my surf board and ran into
the sea. I glided through the wind. I ran to put my surf board away so I could
swim. I dove in the shiny beautiful sea. It was an ocean wonderland. My sister
yelled “Ice cream!” I swam into the water. Petra, Ethan and I yelled “Ice
cream, ice cream”. Mum said “Okay”. We had delicious chocolate ice cream.

Story Writing
Here are a couple of stories that we would like to celebrate:
Finn
On Monday I woke up. I was excited today, we were going tramping. I jumped out of bed, put on my clothes and ran into the lounge. I got my backpack and checked that I hadn't forgotten anything and then I waited for my mum. Then we left. When we arrived at Nics I was so excited I could hardly keep still. We waited for Zac to arrive. Kim, Jasper and Kalo had already arrived. When Zac turned up we all drove to the camping ground. After we all arrived, we had a snack then we started walking. It took us about 3 hours to reach the Te Puia Lodge. We unpacked and had something to eat and walked to the hot pools. We stayed there till 7pm and we had to walk back in the dark. It was freezing cold in the forest. The huge trees loomed over me. We finally got back to the hut. We slept there for the night. We walked back to the car park and then we drove to the other hot pools, after that we drove home. It was epic!

On a sunny day I went to the beach. It was fun and my mums friends came and her children came too. We had heaps of fun and my sisters said to me to watch out for the green rocks and I slipped on a rock and I was bleeding. I went to my mum and she gave me a tissue. I put it on my leg. After I did it, I went on the playground but we had to get an ice cream and we had to go but Briar didn't come so Maddy had to get Briar.

When I was at home Coops mum called and said "Is it alright if Kiki can over and play?" Dad said "Yes". Next we went to Coops house and Ninja their dog started barking because he hadn't seen us in ages, he was a nice dog. Then we knocked on the door and Coop opened the door. We played in the pool while my dad was talking to Coops dad. Finally we played on Roblox in his room for 2 hours. At the end of the day we played with Ninja and Max, Coops other dog. Then we had chocolate chip cookies. Then it was night and we had to go home. I was feeling so happy because I was spending time with my best friend.

One cold, icy winter my mum, dad and my little sister Zaria went to Taupo. We arrived around 2pm. After we got to our hotel room we unpacked our heavy bags then we walked to this beautiful park. There stood this sign saying '#LOVE TAUPO' in big sized letters and in a lovely white colour. My sister Zaria and I hopped in a letter each. She jumped on the 'L' and I curled up like a ball in the 'O'. We had a smooth walk in the park and then we decided to go to the pub for a lemonade. The lemonade was bubbling and swishing around in my mouth. Then my mum and dad said "Come on girls, lets go get McDonald's". So we did. For my yummy meal I had...one cheeseburger, medium fries, frozen coke and a chocolate sundae. Then we walked back to the park. At night the park was all lit up! We spotted a tree and we thought that it said 'A family a fart!' But it actually was 'a family affair'! We had a smooth ride on this really cool train. The train had lights on it too. Then we had a nice cool walk back to the hotel to have a nice warm and very deep sea. We drank a Ribenna each and my mum and dad had a red rosé After that, Zaria and I went to sleep in our big double bed. The next day my family and I got all suited up in our snow gear. Then we had half and hour drive to the Taupo mountain. We had to wait in this long line to ride in a warm bus to the top of the mountain. Then we had to find a spot. My dad pushed me on a toboggan down a really steep hill. I had 5 turns then BOOM! I fell off the toboggan and lost my grip and landed head first into the snow. I was about 1 meter away from hitting my head onto a rock. Then I had a yummy sandwich. Then we built a family snowman. We put carrots in for the nose, raisins for eyes and my dad's beanie and scarf too. Then we stopped on the way home to get an ice block each. I got a Cyclone, Zaria got a Cyclone too. Mum got a lemon fruity one and dad got a chocolate cone. Then Zaria and I ate a whole jar of gherkins. Oh and we also stopped to have a look at the spectacular view. I felt cold and very happy.

One boiling, tropical Sunday my sweaty mum, dad, Tina, Pera and I were out in the decorative front yard playing volleyball. Dad started off. The bright, blue ball went higher than our long trampoline! He was passing it onto mum. Mum failed because she didn't bounce it to me. She picked the ball up and passed it to me. Then I bounced the soaked ball higher than dads bounce. "Beat that!" I said, after passing the ball to Tina. But this time Tina carried it on. She passed the ball to Pera. He failed as well. After that, everybody was very, very, very hot! So, all us sweaty creatures decided to do a splash fight with out wet bunch of balloons. We had so much fun. Finally we took a nap outside after having a barbecue. Dad put out some air mattresses so then we could lay down on them. Everyone was very exhausted. I enjoyed that day because we have not had that much entertainment in so many years.
Here is a snapshot of our science lesson today:
We have been learning about recounts in Story Writing.
We are also including interesting adjectives to make our writing more interesting for the reader.
Going to the Tough Kid Challenge- Written by Georgie
I was so excited for the Tough Kid Challenge. I went with Stella and Ella. I was freezing! It was a rainy day. It was time to go down. The steps were slippery I was ready for the challenge. I went off, splash! It was so wet. There were so many obstacles, but it wasn't a race. Everyone else was waiting in the stadium. I persevered and tried. I felt so proud of myself. I was cold and muddy and then it was time for the Year 3s. After the Year 3s, everyone was soaked to the bone. Everyone was happy. After the event we all went back to school. We all got back into our school uniform. We watched the Active Board. We all waited to have our lunch. I can not wait until I can do it again, I was so proud of myself!
Tough Kid Challenge- Written by Kaiden
On the 8th of March I went to the Hastings Sports Park for the Tough Kid Challenge. We waited for a very long time. When they called up the Year 3 children, I was so, so nervous! I felt slippery and muddy. My favourite bit was the water slide.
Tough Kids 2018- Written by Grace
I went to the Tough Kid Challenge. When we got to the big stadium, we found a place to sit. The Year 3 girls were last to race. I was very patient. Then it was finally the Year 3 girls turn. I was in the first wave. I got very muddy when I started. We had to go under two nets and one mud pool. There were two beams to walk across. The beams to walk across were very slippery. The obstacles were very easy to do. When I did all the obstacles I finally got past the finish line. When I finished, I got a Mitre 10 bracelet. I was very proud. When I finished, I got changed and then I packed my bag. Then I had to walk through a lot of puddles. I felt exhausted and very proud that I finished the Tough Kid Challenge.
So far we have:
-Looked at the Inquiry question
-Talked about and highlighted the key words
-Thought about and created our own questions by using the question matrix
-Shared our thoughts about the bread making process
-Watched some interesting YouTube clips about how flour is made
-Tasted 4 different types of bread and used adjectives to describe 3 of the senses- look, touch and taste
During Art Deco week, we created some beautiful pieces of artwork!
For one of our Maths warm up activities, we looked at place value in groups and talked about what money looks like when it is split into the hundreds, tens and ones columns.
